I have, from a young age, been interested in performing. Starting in kindergarten and throughout grade school, I participated in every play and production. Then, abruptly, in high school, when I was fourteen, I attended the midnight showing of "The Song Remains the Same" at a local theatre. Instantly, I became obsessed with the guitar and singing. Spending about 6 hours a day practicing my chops and moves in the seclusion of my basement room became a way of life.
After graduating from Caesar Rodney High School, I left Delaware to pursue a career as an airframe and power plant specialist at The Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa Oklahoma, where I lived in a tattered trailer park on the Catoosa Cherokee Reservation. Having been enrolled for only 4 months, an incident involving a .357 magnum, and, being at the wrong place at the wrong time, convinced me to leave Tulsa at once. I drifted out of sight for awhile, and then resurfaced in Ohio to join the USAF where I continued practicing for my true calling while working with special weapon systems and performing courier duties.
After the service, I ended up studying with a very brilliant guitar and music teacher who brought me up to speed (reading, writing, and theory) enough to test out of my first year at Berklee College of Music. When the money ran out for school after two years, I plodded through several companies removing asbestos mainly on the East Coast while performing cover tunes on weekends with a band and trying to figure out how to "break into" the entertainment world.
In 1999 I landed a job with a Fortune 100 company as a computer programmer working on Benefits software for clients, including, EDS (Ross Perot), USAir, Mercedes Benz, Raytheon, and several others. Here I stayed for three years, until my real estate investing earnings overtook my corporate wages. Very fortunate I have been to have been able to work along with my Father in his declining years. We were involved in several auto sales lots, real estate, premium auctions, antiques, and many varied things.
I started singing and entertaining as a Rod Stewart impersonator and tribute artist in 2006 and have, since that time performed my show about 160 times. I won the "Rising Star" award in Las Vegas, and am fortunate enough to have played prestigious venues and events.
I bought my nightclub in 2007 and ran it on my own for about four years. Running a nightclub seems to be a thankless job that never ends. Now I have general managers that run it for me. I know exactly what the Dunkin Donuts man means when he passes himself and says, "I already made the donuts". Still, it's been an incredibly fun (sometimes crazy) journey and I wouldn't do anything differently.
I've recently made the mountains of Rincon, Puerto Rico my home base, but I still travel at will to “The States" (and on occasion, beyond) for bookings, auditions, and studio demo work.
At times I feel I've lived a very unremarkable life, but then, I think of these things above and my hope and faith in life are renewed. My favorite quote is: "I will endeavor to persever from one good thing to the next forever"
